Professional O-Ring and Oil Seal Manufacturer, Sealing Solution Supplier Since 2008.

What are the materials of O-rings and how to choose the right materials?

An O-ring is a commonly used sealing element used to prevent liquid or gas leakage. It can be made from a variety of materials, each with different properties and scope of application. The following are some common O-ring materials and their characteristics:

1. Rubber (such as nitrile rubber, butyl rubber, fluorine rubber) : rubber seals have good elasticity and wear resistance, and can be used in a wide range of temperatures. Nitrile rubber is suitable for general industrial applications, butyl rubber has good resistance to petroleum and solvents, and fluorine rubber is suitable for high temperature and chemical corrosion environment.

2.2. Polyurethane: Polyurethane sealing rings have high mechanical strength and wear resistance, suitable for high pressure and high impact load applications.

3. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) : PTFE sealing ring has excellent chemical corrosion resistance and low friction coefficient, suitable for various chemical media and high temperature environment.

4. Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) : PEEK sealing ring has excellent high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, suitable for applications requiring high temperature and chemical stability.

When choosing the right O-ring material, the following factors need to be considered:

1. Working temperature: Different materials have different temperature tolerance, ensuring that the selected material can maintain sealing performance within the actual working temperature range.

2. Working medium: Consider the chemical properties of the liquid or gas to be sealed, and choose materials that can withstand the working medium to avoid chemical corrosion or dissolution.

3 Application requirements: According to the specific application requirements, consider the elasticity, wear resistance, compression deformation and other properties of the material to ensure that the sealing ring can meet the requirements of the application.

4. Cost factor: The cost of different materials is also one of the factors to consider in the selection, according to the budget and performance requirements to choose the right material.
