In cryogenic fluid handling, LNG transportation, aerospace fuel systems, and low-temperature industrial processes, seal failure is one of the leading causes of equipment leakage, performance degradation, and unplanned maintenance. Conventional elastomeric seals such as nitrile rubber (NBR) and fluoroelastomer (FKM) lose elasticity at sub-zero temperatures, becoming brittle and prone to cracking. As temperatures drop below -40°C, many rubber materials experience glass transition and permanent deformation, resulting in loss of sealing force and fluid leakage. PTFE spring-energized seals offer a proven solution to these low-temperature sealing challenges, combining the exceptional low-temperature stability of PTFE with a metal spring compensation mechanism to maintain reliable sealing performance even in extreme cold.
