Professional O-Ring and Oil Seal Manufacturer, Sealing Solution Supplier Since 2008.
FFKM, also known as perfluoroelastomer, represents the top tier of high-performance elastomers for industrial sealing. As defined by ASTM D1418, FFKM features a fully fluorinated molecular backbone without C-H bonds. It combines the outstanding chemical inertness of PTFE and the elastic resilience of rubber, making it the preferred sealing choice when standard elastomers like NBR and even FKM fail under harsh operating environments.
FKM (Viton®) is partially fluorinated and works well for many oil and fuel applications, but it cannot survive strong polar solvents and powerful oxidizing agents. FFKM is fully fluorinated with higher fluorine content, providing far broader chemical compatibility and higher thermal resistance. The trade-off is higher material cost, so FFKM is selected only for critical extreme environments where seal failure would cause costly downtime or safety hazards.
Multiple FFKM compound grades are available for different requirements: high-temperature grades, plasma-resistant semiconductor grades, low-temperature flexible grades, and FDA-certified clean grades. Hardness options commonly range from 60 to 90 Shore A. Engineers should match the FFKM grade, hardness and cross-section according to operating temperature, chemical medium, pressure and groove design. Proper installation and groove machining quality are also essential to maximize service life.
FFKM perfluoroelastomer o-rings are the ultimate sealing solution for the world’s harshest environments. Where standard rubber seals degrade rapidly, FFKM maintains reliable sealing performance, reduces unplanned shutdowns and lowers total operational cost despite higher upfront investment. For critical equipment requiring zero leakage and high reliability, FFKM seals remain the first choice for design engineers worldwide.
