Product Overview
The Black NBR Oil Seal is manufactured from nitrile rubber (NBR), the most widely used elastomer for oil seals. NBR offers a balanced combination of oil resistance, wear resistance, and low cost, making it the preferred choice for high-volume applications. The seal consists of a metal case, a rubber coating, and a spring-loaded sealing lip. The black color is the standard identifier for NBR material, allowing easy recognition and inventory management.
Key Features & Benefits
Excellent Oil & Grease Resistance: Ideal for petroleum-based lubricants, hydraulic oils, and greases.
Good Mechanical Properties: High tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and elasticity.
Wide Temperature Range: Suitable for -30°C to +100°C (short-term up to 120°C).
Cost-Effective: Economical solution for OEM and aftermarket applications.
Wide Availability: A full range of standard sizes in stock for fast delivery.
Easy Installation: Standard design allows for quick and simple replacement.
Working Principle
The Black NBR Oil Seal functions as a dynamic seal between a rotating shaft and a stationary housing. The sealing lip, energized by a garter spring, presses against the shaft to prevent lubricant leakage. A thin film of oil is maintained between the lip and the shaft during rotation, reducing friction and heat. The NBR compound provides good resilience, allowing the lip to conform to minor shaft imperfections. The outer case is press-fitted into the housing, and the rubber coating ensures a static seal.

Typical Applications
Electric motors, pumps, and gearboxes
Agricultural machinery, construction equipment
Automotive wheel hubs, axles, and transmissions
General industrial machinery and power tools
Household appliances and HVAC systems
Installation & Maintenance
Check shaft for wear, scratches, or corrosion. Replace if necessary.
Apply a thin layer of compatible grease to the sealing lip.
Press the seal into the housing using a flat installation tool.
Ensure the seal is seated squarely and the lip is not twisted.
Inspect periodically for leakage; replace at the first sign of wear.
Cost-Effectiveness & Availability
NBR seals are the most economical option for general-purpose sealing. They are widely available in standard sizes, often from stock, which minimizes downtime. For applications within their temperature and chemical limits, NBR seals deliver reliable performance at a fraction of the cost of FKM or PTFE seals. They are the ideal choice for high-volume production and routine maintenance.
